16/08/10 - The entrance to Lathkill Dale

I'm David Preston and I live in Macclesfield, Cheshire. I love mountains and wild places where I can explore and experience the beauty of this wonderful world of ours.

Summer is here and just back from a wet weekend in the Lake District. A superb weekend walk from Braithwaite near Keswick to Black sail Youth Hostel, A bit of a wet weekend but very enjoyable to cross these wild and beautiful mountains

I took this view of the Matterhorn in July 2007 as I neared  Zermatt at the end of the Walkers Haute Route - No matter how many times I look at it this exciting photo it fills me with wonder. Many climbers have fought there way to the top, some have lost there lives. It is like a magnet, when you are near you cannot stop gazing up at it. Alas its out of my reach but it has got to be one of my favourite views
