To celebrate Britain’s first and
arguably most beautiful national park, The Friends of the Peak
District have devised a brand new long distance (190-mile) walking
route around its entire boundary. The walk is divided up into 20
stages which are easily completed in a normal day |
Stretching from the moorland tops of the South Pennines to the gentle
limestone scenery of the Derbyshire Dales, the route embraces the
urban edges of Sheffield and Oldham, as well as Staffordshire's rugged
moorland and the undulating slopes of Cheshire.
After
I purchased the Guidebook I decided to walk the whole route and
details on my progress can be found below, some of the mileages may
differ as occasionally I have deviated from the published route for
refreshments or to connect up with public transport or accommodation. |
